  1. Beautiful insight. Thank you for presenting it again . It also shows how actions must always take precedence over intentions in the performance of a Mitzvah. Or in this case in the non-performance of a Mitzvah. Because in this case, we can not halachically really determine why a person and his father chose not to circumcise, we must take the extreme position and deny him his obligation as a Jew. Still we can not deny that he is in fact a Jew, based only on his lack of this one significant action. Intention and lack of action are not as significant as the appropriate action, or positive Mitzvah.
